'WE NEED TO RECLAIM OUR CULTURE AS AFRICANS' – PROF KWAA PRAH

The University of Mpumalanga celebrated Africa Day on 25 May 2021 with a lecture under the theme: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa’s Development and Intensifying the Fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic, which was delivered by Emeritus Professor Kwesi Kwaa Prah in the Multipurpose Hall at Mbombela campus.



DECOLONISED MINDS ARE A CATALYST FOR DEVELOPMENT

The University of Mpumalanga and RiseFM joined the African continent and the global community to celebrate this year's Africa Day with a dialogue under the theme: Creating Conducive Conditions for Africa's Development and Intensifying the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic.



UMP GIVES TEEN MOM WINGS TO FLY

Despite being orphaned at a very early age and having her first child when she was only 17, fourth-year Bachelor of Education in Foundation Phase student, Zanele Khumalo, has found new hope and a better future for herself and her child through her incredible journey with the University of Mpumalanga.



EMPLOYABILITY AND BUSINESS WORKSHOP EMPOWERS STUDENTS

Following their participation in a month-long Entrepreneurship and Business Workshop, University of Mpumalanga third-year students are fired up and looking forward to a bright future post their graduation.



GAUTENG ALUMNUS LIVING UP TO UMP VALUES

Aspiring businessman, Kgotso Motla, who was recently elected to the Gauteng Alumni Chapter as an additional member, is living up to UMP’s values of adaptability and inspiration, and making the institution proud.



eSPORTS TAKES A FRONT SEAT ON CAMPUS

With an already extensive offering of physical sports for students to participate in, UMP has now also joined USSA’s eSports community.



HARMONISING LABOUR LAWS IN THE SADC WILL PROTECT WORKERS

There is an urgent need to harmonise labour laws in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, to protect the rights of workers, including immigrant employees, said University of Mpumalanga’s (UMP) Professor, Akhubue Okharedia, at a seminar recently hosted by the UMP Research Division.



UMP WELCOMES THE FIRST GROUP OF ACADEMIC TALENT STEWARDSHIP PROGRAMME FELLOWS

The newly established Academic Talent Stewardship Programme (ATSP) has just been launched at the University of Mpumalanga and will offer selected students great developmental opportunities. We meet the six candidates that have been selected to be part of the programme.
