LETTER FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

October is Mental Health Awareness Month and what better time for us to come together, while keeping a safe social distance, as we choreographed and created our very own Jerusalema Dance Challenge. Our spirits were lifted and it was wonderful to see the UMP community come together and have fun as one after what can only be described as a very tough, trying and strenuous year. Thank you, the challenge was just what our community needed. I am sure we have made our Chancellor, President Cyril Ramaphosa, very proud! 



UMP JOINS THE GLOBAL #JERUSALEMADANCECHALLENGE

UMP staff and students led by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Thoko Mayekiso, put on their dancing shoes and joined the Jerusalema Dance Challenge, which has swept South Africa and the world by storm.



UMP APPOINTS DIRECTOR: STAKEHOLDER LIAISON AND COMMUNICATIONS

The University of Mpumalanga has appointed seasoned communication and marketing specialist, Mr Achieve Tlangelani Ubisi, as The Director: Stakeholder Liaison and Communication to strengthen its institutional communication and relations with stakeholders.



MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS AT UMP

October is Mental Health Awareness Month and the University of Mpumalanga is running campaigns to assist staff and students in dealing with the psychological effects of COVID-19 and the national lockdown.



UMP HOSTS THE 2020 PUBLIC LECTURE

The University of Mpumalanga hosted a public lecture on the importance of the development and maintenance of a person-centred institutional culture. Professor Sipho Seepe of the University of Zululand delivered the lecture virtual.



MEET THE STUDENT WHO ASPIRES TO BE UMP’S VICE-CHANCELLOR

Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student, Thabang Mashiloane, has many big dreams – one of which is to become UMP’s Vice Chancellor. The 24-year-old has walked a long, hard road to be where he is today and has never let any challenge get him down.
