Guided by Sibiya's strategic vision, the chapter is planning to open avenues for funding and establish collaborative relationships with corporate entities. These efforts aim to facilitate internships, employment prospects, and bursaries for UMP alumni.

Sibiya articulates his primary objective, stating, "My goal is twofold: to reduce the number of unemployed UMP graduates and, crucially, to play a pivotal role in securing research funding for those pursuing further studies."

A proud UMP graduate from the inaugural Bachelor of Science cohort in 2021, Sibiya, a native of KwaNongoma, envisions a significant rise in graduates from KwaZulu-Natal. This envisioned growth is anticipated to fortify the chapter, equipping it to effectively address the multifaceted challenges faced by graduates.

Sibiya sheds light on a prevalent issue – the lack of funding hindering graduates' pursuit of advanced studies: "Recognizing that not every graduate seeks immediate employment, our focus extends to those desiring further academic exploration. I am committed to exploring diverse avenues to secure funding for postgraduate education."

Acknowledging the pivotal role of alumni involvement, Sibiya emphasizes its broader impact in fostering a sense of community and robust networking. The chapter, under his astute leadership, is unwaveringly committed to providing opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.

Sibiya elaborates, "Beyond upholding the institution's reputation, alumni engagement serves as a valuable resource for current students, offering insights and experiences. This engagement contributes to a sense of collective pride and loyalty."

In his current role as a Science Communicator, undergoing an enriching internship at Sci-Enza Science Centre, Sibiya channels his passion for science to diverse audiences.

"My objective is to impart enthusiasm for science, making complex concepts more accessible and understandable through various channels such as writing articles, giving talks, and engaging with people on social media."

Reflecting on his year-long internship, Sibiya expresses gratification in sharing knowledge and experiencing continual personal growth.

Looking ahead, Sibiya envisions the Alumni Chapter as a dynamic force, acting as a vital bridge between UMP and its graduates while creating a plethora of opportunities for all alumni. He shares his vision, saying, "Our collective aim is to promote a sustained impact within the UMP community.

This formidable task begins with me – inspiring others to contribute and setting a commendable example. As pioneers, we aspire to leave an indelible mark, making a positive difference for generations to come."
