Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management


Programme Description
The purpose is to provide students with an opportunity to undertake independent research under supervision and contribute to the development of knowledge at an advanced level. During the process of undertaking the research, students will gain experience in all aspects of the research process and develop a deep and contemporary understanding of theories, ideas and practices in their areas of specialisation. The curriculum of the Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management is made up of the research proposal and research-based dissertation that reflect the context of tourism and hospitality management.
 
Upon completion, graduates will be able to progress to Doctoral studies if they so wish. The Master of Tourism and Hospitality Management will enhance knowledge and skills in continuous professional development of managers and leaders in tourism and hospitality management.
 
Duration of programme
1 year: Full-Time and 2 years: Part-time
 
Admission Requirements  
The minimum admission requirement is a Postgraduate Diploma or Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management Honours or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 8 with an average of 65%. In addition, the student must be able to develop a research proposal for the intended research project. The selection and allocation of postgraduate students depend on the availability of supervisors.
