Engagement
Engagement is quite an active division that specialises on how the UMP relates with the internal and external stakeholders; issues of how the mission of the University is fulfilled by working with strategic partners to produce student products that are wholistic and able to demonstrate the graduate attributes of UMP. This includes industry, farms, government departments, institutes (Private and Public), institutions both local and abroad etc. Memoranda of understanding are entered between UMP and strategic partners to facilitate working together.
Continuing Education Services
The Continuing Education Services Division deals with increasing and broadening access to the UMP Programmes and servicing communities in terms of offering short learning programmes that empower and upskill people as well as allowing alternative entry into the institutions. An example may be a short learning programme needed by Sugarcane growers for orientation into Sugarcane production or Financial Management of Farms as businesses. It may also be training on basic computer skills for community groups such as teachers of a particular circuit etc. These are designed and carried out to serve specific needs within the various sectors of the economy.
Graduate & Student Placement
The unit assists students to develop their employability and entrepreneurship skills by organizing work readiness workshops which are facilitated by representatives of industries. It also organises career expos annually to provide students with opportunities to be in contact with potential employers to assist them in preparing Day One Competencies and familiarise students with job opportunity requirements in their respective fields of study. It also interacts with industries to place students for Work Integrated Learning (WIL). The unit further keeps a database of employers who have participated in placement for Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for future reference. The Graduate and Student Placement Unit is also responsible for Alumni matters.
These include interacting with Alumni in organising events, elections, and launching of new chapters. The office is responsible for keeping a database for alumni. It corresponds with alumni in terms of job opportunities or any other communication that UMP would like to keep Alumni abreast of. The Division launched the Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KZN and Eastern Cape Alumni Chapters.
