April 2019 EDITION

LETTER FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR

Welcome to our first newsletter of 2019. I'm pleased that we have established a form of communication that will keep you informed and updated on the latest news at UMP.

We kick started the year on a good footing as we witnessed an overwhelming number of applications. The registrations process was smooth with all stakeholders working together to assist students making sure that they settle well into the university. The highlight was when Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela visited the Mbombela campus.

In this edition you will also read about Professor Tarombera Mwabvu and Dr Oswald Mhlanga who were both honoured for their outstanding research work.

As a university we pride ourselves in building strong local and international partnerships – working closely with Michigan State University in the United States of America is one of them. We have also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) with the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany to focus on the School of Business and Economics.

We welcome new staff members, our new and returning students. Your time at UMP will determine your future role in this country, this continent and on this beautiful planet.

Professor Thoko Mayekiso
Vice Chancellor
