Mr Senzo Thabethe
Senzo Thabethe is an experienced higher education Employee Relations specialist with more than ten years of continuous service in the HR environment at the University of Mpumalanga. He holds a qualification in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg, in addition to other qualifications obtained from the UNISA School of Business and Leadership in the fields of Business Administration and Project Management.
He brings a distinctive dual perspective to university governance. Between 2022 and 2026 he served as Shop Steward and Branch Office Bearer of NEHAWU at UMP, where he participated actively in the University Bargaining Forum, Organised Labour engagements with Management, and Executive Recruitment Committees. He has also served on the University Institutional Forum, the Transformation Committee and the Employment Equity Forum.
His professional affiliation to the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) and the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IoDSA) is a testament to his commitment to ethical leadership and good governance.
Through his combined Human Resource background and governance experience, Mr Thabethe contributes a practical, solution-oriented voice to the work of Council, with particular emphasis on social justice, institutional compliance and constructive stakeholder relations.
