LETTER FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

This month has been bustling with life, energy, and a shared sense of purpose at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP). August was a truly remarkable month, as we came together to celebrate a milestone that speaks volumes about our journey – the build-up to the 10th anniversary of UMP's establishment. A decade of unwavering dedication to quality education, innovation, and growth.



UMP HOSTS COLOURFUL WOMEN'S BREAKFAST

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) witnessed a momentous event as Professor Thoko Mayekiso, Vice-Chancellor, hosted the Annual Women's Breakfast, an integral part of the Women's Month festivities. The gathering celebrated the achievements of UMP women and illuminated the path forward.



HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS EXPLORE UMP FACILITIES

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) hosted Grade 11 and 12 learners from local schools to provide them with a comprehensive overview of the campuses, including the facilities, and to educate them about the programs offered by the institution.



UMP HAS A FIRM FOUNDATION FOR GENERATIONS YET UNBORN

Speaking during the event, Professor Mayekiso shared some insights into UMP’s pioneering journey and indicated that it has been an amazing journey. In paying homage to individuals who envisioned the idea of establishing the University of Mpumalanga, Prof Mayekiso said “The Chinese proverb, which states that a journey of a thousand miles begins with the single step is most appropriate to capture the resilience that would be required to establish a new Institution. That single step starts with a vision.



UMP HONOURS ENACTUS AND CHOIR VICTORIES

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently held a celebratory event to honour the achievements of ENACTUS and the Choir. These two teams showcased remarkable success at competitions held in Johannesburg and Limpopo, respectively. Both squads returned home bearing three trophies each.



UNIVERSITY OF MPUMALANGA LAUNCHES SWEEP

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently introduced the Student Women Economic Empowerment Program (SWEEP) Chapter, an initiative by Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE), to empower and upskill female student entrepreneurs.



UMP'S RESERVOIR FACILITATING INNOVATIVE RESEARCH

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) reservoir that quietly winds its way from the Earth Fill dam, meandering through the heart of the Mbombela campus, has captured the attention of BSc Honours Ecology student, Nozipho Madonsela to conduct her research investigating algal bloom.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) hosted various organisations, companies, and businesses spanning diverse fields, all converging to share job opportunities and provide guidance to students on their chosen career trajectories.



SAAPAM REAPPOINTS DR MOLEPO AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader for the Bachelor of Administration at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP), Dr. John Molepo has been reappointed as the Executive Director of the South African Association of Public Administration and Management (SAAPAM).



SA'S ENDURING ROLE IN AFRICAN RECONSTRUCTION

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) is commemorating a significant milestone – its 10th year of providing quality education. As part of the celebratory events, the university is hosting events including a public lecture by the esteemed scholar Prof Joseph Diescho.



ENACTUS: FIVE YEARS OF EXCELLENCE

As the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) commemorates its 10th anniversary, the institution also proudly celebrates the achievements of ENACTUS, which has become a standout feature of the university's accomplishments.
