Dear Students,
It is with great pleasure that I extend a warm welcome to each of you as you take residence within our university housing facilities. Your arrival marks the beginning of a significant and transformative journey, and we are honoured to be part of this important chapter in your academic and personal development.
University residences are not merely places of accommodation; they are integral to the holistic student experience. They serve as environments where intellectual engagement, cultural exchange, personal growth, and social intelligence are actively encouraged and supported. We are committed to fostering a community that is safe, inclusive, and conducive to both academic excellence and individual well-being.
As you settle into your new surroundings, I urge you to embrace the opportunities that residence life offers. Participate actively in residence programmes, uphold the University values, and contribute positively to the community you now belong to.
Residence Rules and Expectations
To ensure a harmonious and respectful living environment for all, students are expected to adhere to the established residence rules and policies. These include, but are not limited to:
- Respect for Others: Treat fellow residents, staff, and property with courtesy and consideration at all times.
- Noise Control: Maintain reasonable noise levels, especially during study hours and late evenings, to support a conducive academic atmosphere.
- Cleanliness and Hygiene: Keep your living space clean and orderly. Shared facilities must be used responsibly and left in good condition.
- Safety and Security: Comply with all safety protocols, including fire regulations and access control measures. Unauthorized guests and activities are strictly prohibited.
- Substance Use: The use of alcohol, drugs, or any prohibited substances within the residences is not permitted.
- Accountability: Residents are responsible for their conduct and any damage caused to university property.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the university's student code of conduct. We encourage you to familiarise yourself with the complete set of residence policies available from the Student Housing Office.
Our Student Housing team is dedicated to ensuring that your stay is comfortable, secure, and enriching. Should you require any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff, who are here to support you throughout your time with us.
