The UMP Student Counselling Centre is available to render psychological services to all registered UMP students. The Centre is managed by a Professional Clinical Psychologist registered with HPCSA. Students are provided with a private and confidential space where they can feel free to explore their life challenges in a safe environment.

The Centre is located at the Mbombela Campus, building 7, 2nd floor at the Student Health and Wellness Centre.

Students can book for online or face-to-face consultation via email.

For after hours and emergency services students can contact the toll free numbers of SADAG: 0800 456 789 and Higher Health (PSET) :0800 36 36 36 or send an SMS to 43336. 
 

Services offered at the Centre include:

Individual therapy/counselling
  • Individual therapy/counselling focuses on personal problems such as adjustment, loneliness, relationships, bereavement, sexual assault, trauma, stress or depression, etc.
Group support
  • The Centre conducts a diversity of student development programmes, group therapy and workshop sessions ranging from anger management, assertiveness, stress management, depression and many more. Individuals experiencing similar challenges get to share and empower each other in a supportive space.
