LETTER FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR

The University of Mpumalanga recently held its eighth graduation ceremony to honour students who completed their qualifications during the past academic year. This marked the university's 10th year since its establishment and saw a total of 1 235 degrees and diplomas conferred, including 32 master's degrees across 40 different qualifications.



UMP HOSTS EIGHTH GRADUATION CEREMONY

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently hosted its eighth graduation ceremony, honouring the accomplishments of students who successfully completed their qualifications during the previous academic year. The ceremonies took place on 12 and 13 May 2023, with a grand total of 1 235 students being awarded their well-deserved qualifications.



AFRICA DAY: "FOOD, MUSIC AND RELIGION UNITES US"

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently hosted Africa Day celebrations at its Mbombela and Siyabuswa campuses. The events commenced with a lecture delivered by Namibian Gender expert, Ms Doris Roos, centred around the theme: Celebrating Diversity: Showcasing our Africanness.



FUTURE SCIENTIST GRADUATES WITH MASTER’S

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) ENACTUS President, Mr Moses Timana (26), recently obtained his Master of Science in Agriculture during the university's eighth graduation ceremony recently held at the Mbombela campus.



UMP RECEIVES MOBILE SCIENCE LABORATORY

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently received a Mobile Science Laboratory from Sasol. The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Mr Buti Manamela, along with Noxolo Kahlana, the Head of the Sasol Foundation Trust, handed over this valuable asset to the university.



LONG-TERM REWARDS FOR UMP'S TOP ACHIEVER

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) PhD student, Masimini Stanford Nkosi graduated cum laude (75%) with an MSc degree at the eighth graduation ceremony held at the Mbombela campus recently.



FRIENDS BOUND BY ACADEMIA

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) friends and Master of Science in Agriculture graduates, Annelize van der Merwe and Angelica Kaiser, have a lot in common. Both are part of the Rivers of Life Programme, they have achieved their degrees cum laude and are supervised by Professor Gordon O’Brien. They are currently pursuing their second-year PhD studies at UMP.



UMP AWARDS ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) recently hosted an award ceremony at the Mbombela Campus, dedicated to honouring and celebrating the high achievers among its students.



UMP HOSTS GBV AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

In response to the increasing cases of Gender-based Violence (GBV) and murders in the country, the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) Gender Forum, in collaboration with the Ehlanzeni District Municipality, organized a safety awareness campaign. The campaign aimed to educate and mobilize students, providing them with protective measures to ensure their safety.



FIRST FEMALE SRC PRESIDENT GRADUATES CUM LAUDE

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) student, Ms Vuyelwa Carol Magagula graduates cum laude towards an Honours in Development Studies. She is currently pursuing her master’s at UMP.



UMP APPOINTS LINGUIST OF NOTE

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) has appointed Dr Mafika Lubisi as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences. Dr Lubisi believes that his leadership and research capabilities will greatly benefit the institution, enabling postgraduate students to compete and excel in the field of linguistics.



KANYAMAZANE SCHOOL PRINCIPAL GRADUATES FROM UMP

The principal of Buhlebuyeta Primary School in Lekazi township, Kanyamazane, Mr Simphiwe Cecil Khoza, graduated with a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education, during the University of Mpumalanga’s eighth graduation ceremony, which was recently held at the Mbombela campus.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) celebrated its graduation ceremony on 12 and 13 May 2023 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Mbombela Campus, awarding qualifications to a total of 1 235 students.
