UMP AND KAGISO TRUST LAUNCH STRATEGIC RESEARCH PARTNERSHIP

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) and Kagiso Trust have formalised a strategic partnership that will drive collaborative research, strengthen innovation and develop practical solutions to South Africa's socio-economic challenges.



EXPLORING INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES AND ACCESS TO JUSTICE

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) hosted a Public Lecture on Indigenous Languages and the Justice System, presented by the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Honourable Andries Nel, as part of the University's ASICOCISANE – ASIXOXENI Roundtable Discussion Series.



UMP LAUNCHES ASICOCISANE – ASIXOXENI ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION SERIES

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) has launched the ASICOCISANE – ASIXOXENI Roundtable Discussion Series, an initiative of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Thenjiwe Meyiwa, to promote dialogue on the role of indigenous languages in higher education, research and society.



UMP-NSEZ PARTNERSHIP TO DRIVE REGIONAL GROWTH

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) and the Nkomazi Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) held a meeting on 10 July 2026 to explore areas of collaboration following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this year.



UMP ADVANCES GEOSPATIAL CURRICULUM THROUGH INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP), through its School of Biology and Environmental Sciences, is enhancing its curriculum in geospatial and Earth observation technologies (GEOT) through Geospatial Curriculum and Mentoring, a collaborative project led by Fulbright Specialist Professor Suresh Muthukrishnan and UMP's Professor Daniel Parker.

University of Mpumalanga (UMP) alumna Ms Ndiwanga Muravha is competing in the Miss South Africa 2026 competition, adding another achievement to her growing record as an entrepreneur, youth advocate and leader.



31ST AMESA NATIONAL CONGRESS AIMS TO IMPROVE MATHS TEACHING AND LEARNING

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing quality mathematics education by hosting the 31st Annual National Congress of the Association for Mathematics Education of South Africa (AMESA).



UMP DELEGATION VISITS GERMANY FOR GLOBAL LEARNING EXCHANGE

A University of Mpumalanga (UMP) delegation participated in the prestigious Fulda International Summer School in Germany, strengthening the University’s partnership with Fulda University of Applied Sciences and Travel with Confidence (TWC) while creating opportunities for global learning and student mobility.



UMP LAUNCHES CENTRE FOR CONTINUING LEARNING AND EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) launched its Centre for Continuing Learning and Executive Education (CCLEEd) at the Mbombela Campus on 02 July 2026, with representatives from the public and private sectors joining the University community for the occasion.

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) community marked Mandela Day by dedicating 67 minutes of service to vulnerable children and surrounding communities, reaffirming the University’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.



UMP LAUNCHES CAMPUS COMMUNITY SAFETY FORUM

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP), in partnership with the South African Police Service (SAPS), has launched the Campus Community Safety Forum (CCSF), bringing together the University, law enforcement, government and community stakeholders to strengthen collaboration in creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for teaching, learning and work.
