Mr Sabelo Mahlalela
Sabelo Mahlalela matriculated at Mdzabu High School in the province of Mpumalanga in 1986. He obtained his Secondary Teachers Diploma at the Elijah Mango College of Higher Education and went on to further his studies at the University of Fort Hare where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree. He was trained on regional economic development at the German Foundation for International Development in Germany, on Urban Management and Governance at Wits University and on Blockchain and Digital Currencies at the University of Cape Town.
Sabelo Mahlalela is a South African businessman, Chairman of Ziya Group, a Director of Quantum Metal South Africa, a member of the Quantum Bullion Exchange Board and Chairman of SGM Foundation. He is the Chairperson of Council at the University of Mpumalanga.
Sabelo is a former Group Commercial Executive of the Bidvest Group Limited (listed in the Johannesburg Stock Exchange), a former Director of numerous companies of the Bidvest Group Limited, a former Chairperson of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, a former Deputy Chairperson of the Gauteng Gambling Board, and a former Vice Chairman of the Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa Inland. He is a former Senior Manager of Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism Group in KPMG.
He was part of the management team that organised the first democratic election in South Africa in 1994. He was amongst the first South African government officials to be part of the first government administration in 1995. He served in the South African government led by both President Nelson Mandela and President Thabo Mbeki. He was part of the management team that orgnanised the United Nation Summit on Sustainable Development in 2002. He was part of the management team that wrote the 2010 FIFA World Cup Bid Book that secured the hosting rights of the FIFA World Cup for South Africa.
He is the Author of three published books, namely “Mpumalanga, Our Beautiful Province, “A Child of The Promise” and “Dreams and Visions.” He is writing his forth book.
