On 13 and 14 May, the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) held graduation ceremonies to celebrate the achievements of students who have completed their qualifications during the past academic year. A total of 1 112 students were awarded/conferred qualifications during the seventh graduation ceremony which was held in the Multi-Purpose Hall at the Mbombela Campus.

Best friends and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture graduates, Thobile Mkhwanazi and Rivoningo Ubisi, have a lot in common. Both are recipients of the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship and have achieved their degrees Cum Laude – with 19 distinctions each. They are also both pursuing their Master of Science in Agriculture degrees at UMP and want to pursue their doctoral degrees in agriculture.

OPINION: Senior lecturer at the University of Mpumalanga (UMP) School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Dr Mncedisi Bembe, is of the view that the introduction of e-learning programmes for grade 12 learners by the Mpumalanga Department of Education is a step in the right direction towards improving the quality of education, and will in future benefit both learners and teachers in the province.
