The event brought together organisations, companies, and government departments to engage with UMP students and graduates, with strong participation across sectors. The Career Expo provided a platform for students and unemployed graduates to connect with potential employers, explore career paths, and learn more about opportunities in their fields of study.

The aim was to ensure that all UMP programmes were represented and that participating organisations reflected the range of academic disciplines offered by the University.

This year’s expo showed notable growth in both scale and reach. The number of participating companies rose from 20 previously to 55 in 2025, while student attendance exceeded 2 000 – underscoring the event’s growing role in linking academia with industry.

New participants included the Department of Justice (for Law students), Civil Aviation, and the Mpumalanga International Film Festival (for Media Studies). Commerce students benefited from the presence of organisations such as the South African Revenue Service (SARS), Competition Commission, ICASA, SABPP, and Kesho. Agriculture was represented by institutions such as CSIR and Netafim, while the ICT sector featured Tecno Mobile and ZAWIT. o Mobile and ZAWIT.

The turnout reflected UMP’s ongoing commitment to preparing its students for the workplace by facilitating direct engagement with industries and employers. The 2025 Career Expo provided valuable networking opportunities and reinforced the University’s commitment to supporting employability and graduate success.
