Dr Zakheleni Palane Dube
Dr Dube’s teaching experience includes a number of crop protection modules, such as Plant Pathology, Weed Science, Acarology, and Entomology, with peer-reviewed research publications on these subjects. His research interests are on crop pest diversity and their management using climate-smart approaches; with a long-term goal of extensively documenting environmentally safe, effective, and sustainable utilization of plant extracts in the management of underutilized or orphan crop pests. To achieve this, Dr Dube has established collaborations with national and international institutions and has worked with these collaborators in the supervisory teams of more than 40 undergraduate research projects and 21 postgraduate (MSc and PhD) students' research. He has also participated as a peer reviewer for several journal articles and NRF proposals. He is a registered member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP), the Southern African Association of Plant Pathology (SAAPP), the Nematology Society of Southern Africa (NSSA), and the Entomological Society of Southern Africa (ESSA). He has served as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Underutilised Crops Research and the Research of Crops Journal.
